Deva, Miten, and Manose,

Thank you for bringing your music and your spiritual energy to the Philadelphia community.

And as you said, Deva, there was a sense of so many communities in the area coming together to share in the bliss of devotional chanting and the outpouring of our heartfelt energy expressed in sound.

The interior space of the church (gothic architecture)along with the solid acoustics amplified the magic of the evening both visually and aurally.

The three favorite songs of the evening for me consisted of "Aad Guray Nameh" (and thank you for paying tribute to the wonderful Snatam Kaur, whose recent Philadelphia appearances have been missed by many in the audience), the song that opened up into the ecstatic "Hallelujah" chant based on the Pachelbel Canon, and the song which Deva introduced as having been written as gratitude to Krishna and began as though it was a modest pop-like tune, but evolved into a more centering meditative song that opened up into the "Maha-mantra" of "Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Hare Rama, Hare Rama." What was amazing is that as soon as that mantra refrain was recognized, the community immediately joined in with devotional enthusiasm, singing its heart out.

Other great songs performed are too lengthy to mention here, but the three that affected me most were the ones I mentioned.

I did appreciate the variety of songs performed. The bansuri flute playing of Manose provided a deep ethereal backdrop to the sounds of the keyboard and guitar. Unlike the instruments featured in concerts by Snatam Kaur, there was no percussion coming from a drum such as a tabla, which provides a specific beat, often helpful in steadying the rhythym of chants. The use of a keyboard, guitar, and bansuri provided adequate support for the vocals provided by the artists and the community.

To say it was a night of bliss is no exaggeration. Namaste, indeed, as Deva Premal's last words were to the Philadelphia community.

Thank you so much for a magical concert in the city of brotherly ( and sisterly ) love! Even when the lights went out, Deva, Miten and Manose lit up the stage with their presence and positive energy. We are so blessed to have been at Omega with you and then see you the same week in our own hometown. Namsate and much love, hope to see you again soon!
